ABOUT JTA ASSOCIATES

JTA Associates, Inc. is an architecture firm located in Wayne, Pennsylvania.  The firm opened in February 1993, and still enjoys many repeat clients from the beginning.  The diversity of projects includes residential, governmental and commercial design. The scope of these projects ranges from small residential additions to the demolition of entire houses for the construction of new, high end, single family homes and multi-family structures, as well as office fit-outs and new commercial structures.

The conversion of churches into multi-family residential condominiums are projects that are unique to JTA. However, other multifamily residential design includes new townhouses and midrise condominium structures in both traditional design and contemporary styles.  Many JTA projects, including the church adaptive re-use projects, are historic structures requiring coordination with the local historic commissions for accurate historic restoration.

JTA’s governmental design projects include work for the federal government, the state government and the local township government.   JTA designed a new building for the United States Social Security Administration in Chester, Pennsylvania, as well as provided tenant fit-out design for 60,000 square feet of offices and courtrooms for the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services in Philadelphia, for the United States Department of Justice.

COMMERCIAL PROJECTS

JTA’s commercial projects for the private sector include a 55,000 square foot high-end dealership for Lexus of Chester Springs, bio-tech laboratories and office facilities for a food flavor company, dormitory renovation design for Cabrini College, retail design for numerous stores, both new construction and tenant fit-out, and several medical offices.  JTA has designed and managed the construction of many Eckerd / Rite Aid drug stores, including the Eckerd / Rite Aid located in Devon Square Shopping Center.

JTA has designed numerous Pennsylvania Drivers’ License Centers for PennDOT in the Eastern Pennsylvania area.  For Lower Merion Township, JTA designed a new ambulance facility and training center in Ardmore, as well as an addition and renovation for The Gladwyne Fire Company, in Gladwyne.

HISTORIC AND ADAPTATIVE

REUSE PROJECTS

Along with converting churches into condominiums, JTA designed the conversion of The Borderly House, a 200 year old stone farm house located outside of West Chester, Pennsylvania. The Borderly House was converted from a farm house to the club house for The Tattersall Golf Club. It was completely restored and expanded to double the size to accommodate the needs of a club house.  The addition and renovations had to be in compliance with the Pennsylvania Historic Commission while meeting the contemporary functions of rest rooms, locker rooms, bar, restaurant, pro shop and offices.

Lower Merion Township’s Historic Architectural Review Board (HARB) awarded JTA Associates, Inc. an award for the historic restoration of the headquarters of The Jr. League of Philadelphia which occupies an 1890’s, three story building that is part of the historic district of downtown Ardmore. The restoration returned the building to its original character and glory.

Montgomery County honored JTA Associates, Inc. for the Narberth Place Church Conversion with an award for “An exceptional adaptive reuse project awarded for historic preservation, creative design, and successful community design.”

SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

All projects, residential and commercial, are approached with a level of energy efficiency, and consideration to the resources of our planet. Valley Forge Flowers, and The Barn at Valley Forge Flowers are two projects that were designed with great consideration to be environmentally friendly.

These projects limited the resources from the earth for building the projects as well as the fossil fuels for heating, cooling and lighting the buildings. Both projects incorporate reclaimed and recycled materials, sustainable lumber, energy efficient lighting, and geothermal heating and cooling systems as well as rain water collection.
